Protecting and promoting the natural and heritage assets of Denbighshire

Project Area: Environment & Heritage
County: Denbighshire

Project Officer: Sarah Jones
Axis: 4

This activity is about protecting the important natural and cultural sites of Flintshire and Denbighshire, while promoting them as tourist attractions.  It's designed to involve young people (aged 16 to 24 not in education, employment or training) with voluntary work and work-shadowing projects at sites including;

  • Clwydian Range AONB
  • Halkyn and Talacre Sites of Special Scientific Interest
  • Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Llangollen Canal World Heritage Sites
  • Berwyn Mountain Range
  • throughout the rural areas of Flintshire

Help is available for groups towards projects such as;

  • training in conservation
  • environmental maintenance
  • environmental improvements
  • marketing support
  • biodiversity work
  • studies into carrying out restoration projects

This activity is about encouraging local tourist businesses and associations - such as community councils and wildlife groups - to work together to help increase visitor numbers, not only to these important sites, but also to the area generally.
