What is the project?
The Community and Agri Energy project comprises a number of initiatives which aim to find solutions to improve economic and environmental sustainability of businesses and communities. Project elements will pilot methods of making best use of the area’s natural and environmental assets for economic and community benefit by;
- converting waste products into useable and marketable products
- reducing farm costs and increasing efficiency through environmental practices
- enabling communities to explore new methods of utilising renewable energy sources and reducing energy consumption
The project will be implemented through the following means: feasibility stage; pilot and experimental stage in controlled environments; pre-market testing stage.
Denbighshire Energy Pilots
The Denbighshire Energy Pilots can provide assistance and financial support to community groups with initiatives that reduce Carbon Emissions or generate Renewable Energy. It can also provide the same assistance and financial support to groups of farmers looking to diversify. The project will facilitate a process of community or group participation that will enable local communities to identify, plan and implement the initiatives.
Target Groups: Community Groups, Farming Groups
What Activities Are Eligible?
Example eligible costs include costs towards feasibility studies, expert advice and capacity building exercises, pilot projects.
Money is available for projects which:
- Convert waste products into useable and marketable products
- Explore new methods of utilising renewable energy sources
- Reduce energy consumption
- Projects which result in farm diversification based on any of the above
This is a new project for Cadwyn Clwyd so project ideas are welcome; however the following are some of the things that might be eligible:
Working with a community to reduce Carbon emissions by changing practices
Carrying out feasibility studies into the following:
- On farm Anaerobic Digesters
- Wind turbines
- Ground Source Heat pumps
- Solar Thermal water heating
- Photovoltaic installations
- Hydroelectric Generation on farm or community based
- Community/on farm Composting
- Developing a community combined heat and power plant
- Installing community renewable energy generation
