Denbighshire Green Tourism
September 27, 2011
Project Area: Rural Tourism
County: Denbighshire
Project Officer: Ceri Hughes
Axis: 3
Taking inspiration from the Clwydian Range AONB's status as part of Europarc (the federation which protects Europe's natural environments), this project uses Europarc's principles to encourage sustainable tourism across the whole of Denbighshire.
Focusing on culture, heritage and the natural environment, it's all about making positive changes to tourism, with a view to encourage more people to visit; encouraging them to stay longer; and helping to make Denbighshire a year-round destination.
The project looks at new ways to promote the county's natural landscape and cultural heritage; supports tourism associations and groups; and helps tourism businesses launch exciting ventures such as new products, services and events.
It also aims to boost Denbighshire's visitor market by joining up everything on offer, with things like mountain bikes and trails linked with hotels and guest houses; footpath networks linked with rural businesses; and walking routes linked with cultural events.
