Attention all Carers!! 

Since April last year, RCA has been working in partnership with NEWIS to develop the Heulwen Close Drop-In service in Hope to try and encourage more Carers to pay us a visit. We’ve had a good response from people who’ve attended to date, who’ve enjoyed the chance to come along for a cup of tea and a friendly chat with other informal/family Carers in the area.   Free Holistic Therapies are also available to informal Carers at the session, from a range of reflexology, head, neck and shoulder massage or aromatherapy hand and arm massage. 

All you need to do is register as a Carer with NEWCIS (01352 751436 or even better call in at the Heulwen Close Drop-In to do so. RCA funding has enabled us to bring some informal workshops to the sessions, which are based the kind of activities Carers told us they would be interested in experiencing from questionnaires filled in last year. To date we have had Swati Sharples bring Arts & Crafts, Yoga and Card Making. Sue Hall has brought in Colour Therapy, and in January we had Tai Chi from Lydia O’Hare to complement the beginning of Chinese New Year in February.  Workshops will continue monthly throughout the year and will include, Flower Arranging, Healthy Eating, Yoga, Gardening, Fit to Dance, Digital Photography, First Aid and more …… (All the workshops are very informal, and there’s no push to get involved if you don’t feel like it. The kettle is always on if you’d like to just sit and have a chat)Also, a member of NEWCIS  (North East Wales Carers Information Service) is always on hand to offer information and services to help people in their caring role.

Directions to Heulwen Close Drop-In.As you come into Hope, you’ll see the church is on the left, and Hope primary school shortly after, also on the left.  Go past the Country Spice restaurant (orangey brown coloured building) on the right.  Then take the next right, which is Heulwen Close, a cul-de-sac with a few bungalows.  The Community Room is at the end of the cul-de-sac on the right hand side.  Less than a mile from Hope church. The Drop-In takes place the last Thursday of every month.
